Picture 2 is titled “Breakthrough” in this exhibition. The actual original title of the picture is “Encounter the Miraculous” and it’s by Jeni Bump, who’s based in the Highlands of Scotland. The reason we selected this picture for the exhibition is that there is that sense of breakthrough – that more substantial looking obstacles like a wall of browns and blues – are being broken through by white – which looks like light.
It’s a time of breakthrough. And that seems to represent the bursting forth of Christ from the tomb where he was enclosed and restricted and actually was a corpse – that he broke forth into light and life again. And this picture seems to represent that.
