Time Walkers

This morning I walked through a hundred years …. of stone carvings, stained glass, Victorian floor tiles and Russian icons gifted by Tsar Nicholas II to Bishop Eden.  In other words, Inverness Cathedral.

As you sit at the welcome desk, it becomes clear that people’s speed of walking slows down after they enter.  Every slight noise is magnified by the cathedral’s excellent acoustics – so people begin walking quietly also.  That slowing of pace reflects a slowing of thought, moving into a more contemplative way of being.
