Prayer Focus – Week 13
Author: Ruth Morris – Work Place Chaplaincy Scotland at Stirling Baptist Church Family Life Centre
Theme: Workplace Chaplaincy Scotland and people in the workplace
People in the workplace carry responsibilities and pressures that are becoming increasingly difficult given the economic climate in the last few years. Roles have expanded, demands have increased and there is a significant need for people who can provide an impartial and supportive listening ear to those within the workplace.
God loves people, whatever they are in the middle of and cares about their stresses and struggles. As Chaplains we have the privilege of walking alongside people and listening to their stories, showing Christʼs love and care for them, developing trusting relationships and where appropriate, sharing the Gospel.
Scripture passages:
Each week you will be encouraged to use specific bible passages as the basis of your prayer. As we pray Godʼs word back to him, we can be confident that he will hear and answer.
Isaiah 58:10
“If you extend your soul to the hungry and satisfy the afflicted soul, then your light shall dawn in the darkness”
Proverbs 2:2
“So that you incline your ear to wisdom and apply your heart to understanding”
John 13:35
“By this all will know that you are my disciples, if you have love one for another”
Suggested prayer topics:
- Please pray for Work Place Chaplaincy Scotland and the staff and volunteers as they develop meaningful relationships with people in the workplace.
- Pray that as Chaplains begin their placements, that doors of opportunity will open and God will go before each encounter, providing wisdom for the Chaplains.
- Please pray for Work Place Chaplains as they work within various environments and that trust will develop between Chaplains and workers as they offer support and listen to peoplesʼ stories.
- Pray that Chaplains will be sensitive to opportunities to share the Love and Word of God in the appropriate situations and in Godʼs timing.
Proclamation/Declaration:
Luke 4:18 “The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because He has anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor, He has sent me to heal the broken hearted, to preach the gospel to the poor, He has sent me to heal the broken hearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives and recovery of sight to the blind, to set at liberty those who are oppressed”
